There's store on e-bay called Jolie boutique, which sells hand sewn, ultra soft satin panties, in many styles, These panties are rather fragile including some darling hiphuggers (they don't last as long as the store bought kind from a few years back), but they are adorable and sexy and fell ultra slippery smooth (more than the store bought ones).

The satin "fashion" panties started to get popular in the late 1980s (along with other styles and fabrics, like nylon tricot, nylon/rayon, rayon/cotton blends, etc.), and then got really popular in the mid 1990's (just before the whole visible panty line issue started to get mass media attention). J. C. Penny was the main carrier here of satin bikini panties (with Vicky's Secret a close second; VS panties were not always cut to my satisfaction, many cuts had less detailing/ruching, but they did have some wonderful silk panties. Having bought satin panties for my girlfriends from the late 1980's to 2000 or so, I can tell you that I noticed a change in the polyester blends they were using. The early to mid 1990's satin panties were a much finer/softer weave, while I noticed a less silky weave starting to be used in the late 1990's, and certainly by the early 2000's. /though they looked nearly the same (and the ultra fem look of tucked/ruched satin panties was/is important), they didn't feel exactly the same to the touch. Still, this was better than no satin panties at all.

Love this site, but you make one mistake in your description of the benefits of satin panties:

Satin panties DO show under clothes, especially tight-fitted clothing. This is why satin panties have mostly disappeared from most mainstream department stores (when they were everywhere in the 1990's)...more women are concerned with visible panty lines (lots of attention to this on tv and in magazines in the past decade). Satin (polyester satin, charmeuse satin, etc.) has a "high molecular weight' which means that it is thicker than most fabric weaves. The ends of satin (where it is cut at the waste and legs) frays easily, and can not be flattened into an "invisible seam"; the ends have to be tucked-sewn or ruched around the seams (and especially the elastic bands)...there are some boutique satin panties that do not use elastic at the seams, bu these tend to be looser and still show....anyways, this is why the seams show through. And the material itself is "liquidy" and a bit loose, so the material is sometimes detectable as well. Women who still wear satin panties either don't care about VPL (getting rarer), or, they wear them under loose jeans or a-line skirts or dresses (and with underskirts or petti-slips). Find a girl who wears a-line skirts (pleated or tiered skirts are good for hiding), or frilly dresses, and chances are, she still has some satin panties (or even ruffled panties) she loves to wear under them.

If you want to take part in it let me know and I will make an exception though it ended a couple days ago. The reception was pretty good.
